We are delighted to announce that Bridge Junior School has achieved the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award with Distinction. This prestigious award recognises our outstanding commitment to sustainability, environmental education and helping children become responsible global citizens.

The award feedback praised the leadership of our Eco Committee and the way pupils have involved families and the wider community. Highlights included raising an amazing £1,000 for Lifting Children’s Hope, growing vegetables, sharing free seeds and soil with families, and holding a Chai and Chat event where parents shared planting knowledge from their home countries.

Our work to promote active travel was also recognised, including cycle training for Year 5 pupils. Assessors were particularly impressed by how confidently our children shared ideas and encouraged others to make environmentally friendly choices at home.

Councillor Geoff Whittle, Leicester’s Assistant City Mayor for Environment and Transport, congratulated the school and praised the enthusiasm and hard work of our pupils and staff. He highlighted the important part schools play in creating a greener and healthier Leicester.

We are incredibly proud of our children, staff and families. This distinction celebrates what can be achieved when our whole community works together, uses its voice and takes action to care for our planet.
