School Dinners and Healthy Eating

Aspens provides our school meals. Children can choose from a range of healthy vegetarian meals. You can view the current menu, prices and allergy information on our School Dinners page.

We encourage children to make healthy food choices. If your child brings a snack to school, please choose a healthy option such as fresh fruit or vegetables. Please avoid sweets, chocolate, crisps and sugary drinks.

Free School Meals

Your child may be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) if your family receives Universal Credit or another qualifying benefit. These include Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, income-related Employment and Support Allowance, certain tax credits or the guaranteed part of Pension Credit. Some families who cannot claim public funds may also be eligible.

The eligibility rules changed in 2026. If you receive Universal Credit or your application was refused in the past, we encourage you to apply again.

Applying can help your family and may also provide extra funding for the school to support your child’s learning. You can find the current criteria and apply on the Leicester City Council Free School Meals page.
